CURFEW is the musical project of BAFTA awarding winning composer/producer Sönke Prigge, who has written music for various films and TV productions including BBC-BLUE PETER, BBC-NEWSROUND-specials, the MTV show “ Rob and Big Black” and for a number of independent films. Under the pseudonym FLUID (together with co-writer Steve Line) Sönke has also had dance-chart success with the trance single 'Cascade' had has worked on many re-mixes.
When FLUIDS recording contract ended, Sönke formed CURFEW to have greater freedom in musical expression and to be able to incorporate more live instruments and vocals into an electro-sound. Roger Francomb, who plays soprano saxophone and guitars on many CURFEW recordings has contributed massively to the CURFEW sound and so have the various vocalists who have given their voice (and sometimes lyrics) to the CURFEW songs.

Artist Profile

How would you describe your sound and what are some of your influences?
Electro - more towards the Chill out side, or Ambient than full on dancefloor - but we have some upbeat songs in the set-list, too and the next album OUTSIDE will be mostly upbeat! Influences: Just too many to list here, but should perhaps mention Kraftwerk, The Police, Genesis and some Jazz. Defo: All honest musicians, although we make electronic music, we still like it to be hand made and not like so many DJs and wanna be producers these days who let the computer do the music (i.e. using pre-recorded drum loops and pre-set sounds and things like Reason or Ableton put it all together for them)
Have you ever been crowd surfing?
Yeah - looong time ago!
What can people expect when coming to your gig?
Can the expect a gig? Oh yeah! We have been away from gigs for quite a while, but are planning to come back. The next few rounds of gigs will b different, and quiet with Live Jazz Piano, classical guitar and vocals. We are trying to play CURFEW song in an acoustic way...
Any weird things happened to you at a gig?
I stepped on the power lead (because I wasn\'t there at soundcheck to check that i could jump around) and that was the end of one gig, because it would\'ve taken too long to boot up everything again... The others where not happy with me... :-(
What’s your favourite album this year?
BlackWhite - Full Circle !!
Who would you like to support?
Someone BIG !
Lager or Cider?
Lager or Larger? Vodka actually!
If you were to pick one festival to play what would it be and why?
The one in Budapest...
Complete the sentence - In a perfect world I would?
already be famous.
To which record label would you most liked to be signed to?
It used to be VIRGIN, because they really gave something different a chance. Now - I\'d rather go with a big independent, coz the majors all look for the next x-factor crap... Astrawerks !!
So, you think you’re going to big hey – What makes you so different?
No I don\'t think that!
What’s on your rider?
Producing the Video for the new single (INSIDE). Should be fun!
Have you ever thrown a TV out a window? If not, would you like to?!
Not a TV, but a PC - and since I\'m Mac only ! ! ! Hassle free computing!
How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
From classical piano, via classical guitar, then progressive rock, then trance and now CURFEW (which combines a bit of all - I think)
What’s the big game plan?
More gigs, new album!
What do you do in the real world?
Composing music (quite a bit of TV work) or teaching Music Tech.
How did you come up with your name?
Found it in a book - but REALLY should have checked out all the other bands with the same name before... grrrrrrrrr.
Give me 5 reasons why people should come and see you live?
If they want to listen rather then should and are ready to be taken on a journey, they are welcome!
